Gavin’s litigation practice is focused on appeals, judicial review applications, professional responsibility, liability and discipline, and general civil and commercial litigation. He has appeared as counsel in over 200 reported cases, before all levels of court including the Supreme Court of Canada and before many tribunals.
Gavin was elected as a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada for four consecutive terms, and was elected as Treasurer, the highest position in the Society, on three occasions between 2006 and 2008. He is the author of Lawyers and Ethics: Professional Responsibility and Discipline, which has served as a leading authority on legal ethics and professional responsibility and liability issues for practitioners and the courts for the past 25 years.

Brooke has appeared as counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada, Ontario Court of Appeal, Federal Court of Appeal, Ontario Superior Court, and the Federal Court. She has advised regulatory bodies and members of regulated professions on professional responsibility issues, and has represented her clients before the Law Society of Ontario, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board.
In addition to her advocacy practice, Brooke provides legal opinions and practical advice on legal professional obligations, including confidentiality issues and conflicts of interest.
In 2017, Brooke was awarded the OBA Foundation Chief Justice of Ontario Fellowship in Legal Ethics and Professionalism Studies for her research and writing on conflicts of interest, confidentiality obligations, lawyers' duty of loyalty to their clients, and motions for the disqualification of counsel.
Brooke MacKenzie has successfully advocated for her clients in appeals, motions, and administrative proceedings. She has published widely on civil procedure, professional responsibility, administrative, tort and constitutional law, and is regularly asked to present and provide opinions and advice on litigation issues and legal ethics.
Denise has worked in both large and boutique firms, and is continually expanding on her knowledge of the court system and legal procedures. Denise’s experience incorporates many aspects of the litigation process from pleadings through to trial and appeals at various levels of court, including the Ontario Superior Court, Commercial List, Divisional Court, and Court of Appeal.
Denise is well-versed in legal practice administration, including preparing correspondence and court documents, and liaising with the courts, process servers, and opposing counsel. She also has experience in conducting corporate searches and enforcement proceedings, has held managerial and staff training roles, and has successfully supervised several top-tier event planning assignments.
In her spare time, Denise enjoys participating in extreme sports and hiking with her Australian Shepherd.
